Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee today stated that the massive sweep of Uttar Pradesh by the BJP can “only be because of EVM manipulation”.
In a press statement, the NPCC claimed that intelligence sources and political analysts failed to assess the situation in UP while political parties failed to forecast their own performance. “BJP themselves did not believe to cross the 300 figure,” the NPCC stated and insisted that Modi’s road shows in the last three days was a “flop show”.
Stating that it had raised the issue of Electronic Voter Machine manipulation in select constituencies even in Nagaland, the NPCC sought to impress on the Election Commission on the possibility of EVMs being manipulated. Terming Mayawati’s claim of EVM manipulation as “valid”, the release maintained, “The nation cannot believe that in Muslim dominated areas, BJP would win.”
Pointing to countries like Japan and other European nations which have discontinued the use of EVMs owing to their vulnerability, the NPCC argued that Germany has even declared EVMs as “unconstitutional”.
The release informed that it will pursue with the Congress Parliamentary Committee to demand that a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigate into the alleged manipulation of EVMs with Computer Software Engineers or as is deemed fit and proper.
Further, the NPCC added that it will try to organize the opinion of national and regional political parties to collectively usher in paper ballot system.
