NPCC assures more job opportunities

Kohima, April 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee today assured of more job opportunities to educated Naga youth and empowerment of women.

Addressing an election rally at Pfutsero town in Phek district today congress candidate K V Pusa assured of more job avenues to Naga youths if he wins the lone seat. He lashed out the state government for failing to address the unemployment crisis in the state. Appealing to the youth to vote for congress, he said that the party’s assurance to create 10 crore jobs for the youth in the country would be implemented in the state if UPA comes to power again. “My priority will be to work for the welfare of our youth,” he told congress supporters.

He also castigated the state government for passing a resolution in the assembly not to grant 33% reservation to Naga women on the pretext of infringing the customary and traditional practices of Naga community. He said that the congress would go all out for welfare and empowerment of Naga women.

On development, Pusa said that eleven years of DAN has taken the state backward in many fronts despite huge amounts being pumped in the state by the Union Government. He said that the states coffer has been emptied by the people who are in power and that even centrally sponsored flagship programmes have been grossly misused.

Lambasting Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of hobnobbing with the BJP, the congress candidate said that “such unholy alliance is a threat to the Christian dominated Naga society and urged the people of Phek district to vote for congress which is always for safeguarding the secular structure of the country.”

On the Naga political issue, Pusa said that the issue is between the Naga Political Groups and the centre and that the state government has got nothing to do with it. He criticised Rio for misleading the people by promising an early solution to the problem. He said eleven years has lapsed and the chief minister has failed to resolve the Naga political issue as promised to the people.

The party also organized a rally at Jalukie town in Peren district. Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Tokheho Yepthomi came down heavily on the state government for allegedly failing to deliver goods to the people for the last eleven years.

He also highlighted the ever increasing graft in the state.  Stating that Rio befriending the BJP is a threat to minority communities, like Christians, he urged people to remain distant from communal forces.
