DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) while extended greetings on the occasion of Nagaland Statehood Day, appealed to the people to vote for the “change you want to see and feel.”
It also appealed for the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation to rethink their demand for a Frontier Nagaland, and said that the Congress would assure “justice and equality.” “We also assure special attention, given an opportunity,” it added.
Further, the NPCC urged the Naga National Workers to conclude the negotiations in order to develop the state and create jobs.
“Statehood continues to face resistance and was not allowed to fully utilize its authority and resources to develop Nagaland State, and today we remain without Medical colleges, Engineering Colleges, Industries, and our infrastructures are at the lowest among the States. We are the 16th State in the Nation but have remained at the bottom in development,” a press release from the NPCC Communications Department stated.
“What we have gained in 25 years of negotiation is corruption. Corruption has reached its ultimate,” it stated. The NPCC claimed there is no project that ends without cuts of multi-commissions. “VCs and VDBs are forced to sign blank cheques by RD to draw whatever amount they want from the accounts of the villages. Even pensioners have to pay commission to receive their due,” it stated.
Further, the NPCC alleged that nepotism, bias, and ill-will are found in almost all the government appointments and orders.
It expressed feat that Nagaland may disintegrate. “Nagaland may finally land in the same situation as J&K. It is their failure to keep our people united because of discrepancy, injustice and inequality in treatment,” the party said.
The Congress termed it shocking that the 60 MLAs have “no concern for the integrity of the State they represent.” “They have taken to uphold the integrity of the Nation. They also should uphold the integrity of the State,” it said.
