The oath-taking ceremony of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) 40 Bhandari Assembly Constituency (AC) under Wokha district was administered by Meribemo Kinghen, president of NPF Wokha division, on Tuesday at the MLA’s residential compound in Bhandari.

Addressing the gathering, Kinghen conveyed a message of congratulations to the party workers of 40 Bhandari AC on behalf of Achumbemo Kikon, MLA of 40 AC and secretary general of NPF, who could not attend the programme due to prior engagements.

Briefing the party workers, Kinghen said that the NPF, being the second oldest regional political party and the first from the Northeast, is a highly respected organisation. He urged the members to uphold the dignity of their responsibilities as AC workers and to discharge their duties with respect, dedication and commitment for the progress of the party and the people.

Referring to the merger between the NDPP and NPF, Kinghen stated that 40 Bhandari AC continues to retain its earlier structure, with its elected legislator holding the post of secretary general of the party. He described the position as highly respectable and called for greater dedication and support from party workers.

He appealed to the members to continue supporting their leaders and prayed for good health and wisdom to guide the people of 40 Bhandari AC and the Nagas in general. Informing that the new structure provides a five-year term (2025–2030) for party office-bearers, he urged the workers to strengthen grassroots-level activities and take up enrolment drives. He also advised members to consult the concerned MLA while appointing village-level party workers, and to maintain an accommodative spirit without differentiating between old and new members.

Congratulating the newly inducted team, Kinghen wished prosperity and unwavering support to MLA Achumbemo Kikon, secretary general of NPF, and lauded the visionary leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and president of the NPF.

Earlier, Pyingthungo Ezung, vice president of NPF Wokha division, delivered the welcome address, while a prayer of blessing for the new team was offered by Wilson Ezung, associate pastor of 7th NAP Baptist Church, Bhandari Town. Nyamo Odyuo, newly appointed president of NPF 40 Bhandari AC division, also addressed the gathering.

The programme was chaired by Rhonathung Kikon, treasurer of NPF Wokha division, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Amos Odyuo, president of the youth wing, NPF Wokha division.
