Kohima, November 30 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency on November 30 has reaffirmed to uphold the party principle and stand with the leadership of party’s President, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and its Legislature Party Leader, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.
A consultative meeting of the AC at its Central office further resolved to elect a regional candidate in the next election, if election is conducted as the constituency is a stronghold of the party.
While expressing strong resentment over the ‘defection’ of MLA, Keneizhakho Nakhro, the AC meeting also asserted that its office bearers are intact and no office bearers representing the Division and Central from the constituency have left the party with MLA, informed a press release from its Media Cell.
Further, the meeting also condemned the alleged forging of “NPF party workers into the NDPP office bearers list” and expressed surprise to see many of the NPF workers who were very much part of the party, in the “defection list.”
The meeting also reaffirms its full preparedness for the next general election under the NPF's tall leadership if election is held, it added.
During the meeting, the AC President, Makole Suosahie pointed out that the regional NPF was founded from the AC by Late A Kevichüsa and asserted that the constituency needs a stable regional leader in the coming days.
He lamented that MLA Nakhro ‘defected’ to NDPP without any knowledge or consent of the party workers and has no authority to dissolve the AC office bearers.
The NPF Central General Secretary, Goneiu Sirie said that the NPF party is not a one man army party but it is based on principle and ideology and the party belongs to the Naga people.
Exhorting the meeting, he further maintained that the 21 MLAs had “defected but the Naga public is still with the party as the party represents the Naga identity."
The Working President of the Kohima Division, Vira Lhousa who also spoke on the occasion appreciated the spirit of regionalism in the Western Angami AC though the incumbent MLA had deserted.
Many political parties have come and gone but the NPF will exist till the Naga people exist, he added.
