NPF Central Farmers Wing continues state-wide enquiry tour

Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Farmers Wing continued its State-Wide Appreciative Enquiry Tour with visits and consultations in Zunheboto and Mokokchung on May 13 and 14.

At Zunheboto, the NPF Central Farmers Wing team visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaland University, where the delegation was led by Vikheho Swu, President of the Central Farmers Wing. He highlighted the purpose of the tour and stressed the importance of understanding the agricultural practices and challenges faced by farmers across the state.

The team was welcomed by Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK Zunheboto, who briefed the delegation on various activities, frontline demonstrations, and technologies promoted by the KVK for farmers in the district.

An interactive session was held between the delegation and KVK scientists, during which issues related to improved paddy varieties, orange rejuvenation, management of fall armyworm, poultry and piggery development, and the impact of jhum cultivation on the environment and agricultural sustainability were discussed. The discussions also emphasized the need for breeding farms to ensure availability of quality poultry chicks and piglets, along with quality seeds for farmers.

 

The delegation later toured the KVK demonstration farm to observe ongoing demonstrations and technologies being implemented for the farming community.

Meanwhile, the Central Farmers Wing also held an Appreciative Enquiry Tour programme at the Conference Hall of NPF Mokokchung Division on May 14, where consultations were held with the Mokokchung Division, particularly its Farmers Wing.

The programme began with an introductory address by Repamangyang, President of the Farmers Wing, Mokokchung Division, who underscored the importance of unity, cooperation, and the role of farmers in society.

The central delegation, led by Dr Mangyangpula, Vice President, Central Farmers Wing and In-charge of Mokokchung Division Farmers Wing, deliberated on issues concerning the welfare and advancement of the farming community. Speeches were also delivered by Dr Mangyangpula and other members of the delegation, highlighting the need to strengthen the farming sector and encourage grassroots participation.

In his address, Repameren Yaden, President of NPF Mokokchung Division, urged members to remain committed to the welfare of farmers and the principles of the party.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Bendangtoshi, Working President, Farmers Wing, Mokokchung Division, followed by the distribution of seeds and saplings.
