Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has welcomed the adoption of the Zunheboto Resolution, describing it as an important milestone for the Naga people on the path to peace and unity.
In a statement issued on Monday, the party lauded the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), the Sümi Hoho, other tribal hohos, civil society organizations, church leaders, and Naga Political Groups (NPGs) for organising what it termed a historic Reconciliation Meet in Zunheboto on September 27.
It further expressed appreciation for the courage and responsibility shown by everyone involved in committing to forgiveness, stopping hostilities, and working together for One Naga Machang. “This kind of cooperation is essential to create a common political voice that reflects the hopes of all Nagas,” it added.
The party also highlighted the spiritual dimension of the initiative, including a call for prayer and reflection throughout October. “True reconciliation starts in the hearts of individuals,” the NPF said, adding that this focus would guide the Naga people towards a fair and honourable political solution.
Urges GoI to engage with all NPGs
Meanwhile, with the Government of India recently extending the ban on the NSCN (K) for five more years, the NPF emphasised that all conflicts can be resolved through dialogue. The party urged the Government to engage with all Naga political groups, including those currently outside the peace process, to achieve a durable settlement of the longstanding Naga political issue.
As a regional political party committed to peace and dialogue, the NPF affirmed its support for initiatives that strengthen Naga unity and foster a shared, peaceful future. It called on every tribe, organisation, and political group to uphold the spirit of the Ungma and Zunheboto Resolutions.
