NPF holds consultative meeting

Kohima, July 1 (MExN): Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Thursday held its consultative meeting of Core Committee along with Party’s Legislature Wing at Central Office Kohima. The meeting deliberated on various issues confronting the Nagas, stated the party Press Bureau in a press release.

The meeting reiterated that it would vigorously pursue the various issues raised with the Governor of Nagaland by the Legislature Wing on the rampant corruption of the present PDA Government.

It asserted that the Legislature Wing would participate in the recent formation of the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue provided it confined its role as “active facilitator.” However, the NPF-PAM would continue to exist.

Further, it maintained that as rightly acknowledged by the Government of India, “the Naga issue is a political issue and hence, it has to be resolved politically by exhibiting political will.” It did not endorsed the opinion of the Minister Temjen Imnna Along that “the settlement of the Naga political issue should be within the constitution of India” which is absolutely contrary to the spirit of the ongoing peace process. “Therefore, such individual opinion should not stand on the way for an honourable solution,” it added.

The meeting also observed one-minute silent prayer on the sudden demised of Lt Toshi Wungtung and conveyed condolence to the bereaved family.
