Office-bearers of the Naga People's Front (NPF) from the 35 A/C Zunheboto constituency on Monday visited landslide-affected areas in Zunheboto town and provided ex gratia assistance to affected families.
The delegation visited Khuwuboto Colony, North Point Colony, Alahuto Colony, Amiphoto Colony and several other localities that have been severely affected by recent landslides.
According to the party, the landslides have caused extensive damage to houses, stranded several families and disrupted road connectivity to a number of colonies. No casualties have been reported so far.
During the visit, the NPF leaders assessed the extent of the damage and extended financial assistance to affected households.
The party said several houses in vulnerable parts of Khuwuboto and North Point colonies have been dismantled as a precaution over fears of collapse, while landslides have rendered some roads inaccessible and left more families homeless.
Alahuto Colony was among the worst-hit areas, with numerous houses and properties suffering extensive damage, it said.
The NPF office-bearers urged the concerned authorities to provide relief and assistance to the affected families at the earliest and expressed solidarity with those displaced by the disaster, assuring them of the party's support during the difficult period.
