NPF Phek hits out at State Govt over fuel prices, other issues

Phek, July 15 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Phek Division has hit out at the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government of Nagaland over number of issues, including COVID-19 response and the rocketing of fuel prices.

A consultative meeting of the Division on July 14 in Phek Town has expressed its dismay over the “arrogant attitude” of the PDA Government over fund received from Government of India (GoI) for COVID-19 pandemic, a press release informed.

It accused the PDA government of being least bothered about “accountability and transparency’ of the fund received from GoI” and being evasive nature to come out with the expenditures as demanded by the NPF party.

It further demanded immediate redressal of medical requirements of the district especially the shortage of doctors, nurses and equipments and urged for working on “war footing to face COVID-19 3rd wave which has become imminent as per the reports of some experts.”

Meanwhile, it further hit out at the State government over the “rocketing of fuel prices” and said that it is adversely affecting the common people due to rampant rise of price on all essential commodities.

Moreover, the government has totally failed to come out with any concrete mechanism to check the price escalation on goods whereby it has led few dealers to take undue advantage of the lockdown by monopolising the markets, it alleged.

Accordingly, the Division called upon the State government to device an effective policy to curb the menace.

The NPF Phek, meanwhile, maintained that due to the “drought-like situation in the State” and many farmers, solely dependent on agriculture, are unable to cultivate their fields or to carry out other agricultural activities.  “If the government has even the least concern for the farmers of the State should extend necessary assistance to the most affected areas,” it added.

The Division expressed its appreciation to the GOI for sanctioning mega 2-lane road projects in the district and urges the implementing agency, the NHIDCL to closely monitor the work to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion. It also requested the public to give full cooperation and support to the contractors for completion of projects without any hindrance.
