NPP Nagaland says party principles remain steadfast despite councillors’ exit

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland on Wednesday stated that the party’s principles and mission remain steadfast despite the recent exit of two of its councillors from the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC).

While respecting their decisions and noting that the councillors left due to political compulsion, the party’s Vice President and Chief Spokesperson K James Vizo said the strength of the NPP lies in its ideology, disciplined cadre and grassroots workers.

“Individuals may come and go, but the mission and principles of the party remain steadfast,” he stated, addressing an event held at the party’s State headquarters in Bank Colony, Walford Road, Dimapur to commemorate the 10th death anniversary of the NPP’s founder, late Purno Agitok Sangma.

Instead, Vizo urged party workers to remain united, organised and committed to the ideals of transparency, accountability and public service, informed a press release issued by the Media & IPR Cell, NPP Nagaland.

The remarks come in the wake two NPP councilors in DMC joining the ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) in February.  Councillors Jonathan Yepthomi of Ward No. 23 and Nikali Sumi Chishi of Ward No. 7 formally joined the NPF along with their supporters.

The move increased the NPF’s strength in the 23-member DMC to 17 councillors.
