
Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit today welcomed the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the new Governor of Nagaland.
In a statement, the NPP Nagaland unit said, “The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit, warmly welcomes the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the new Governor of Nagaland.”
The party acknowledged that the appointment comes as “a temporary arrangement following the sudden and sad demise of the late Governor La Ganesan.” It noted that Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary with “long-standing administrative experience,” brings with him a positive step for the State.
Highlighting his background, the NPP said, “NPP notes with appreciation that Shri Bhalla, hailing from the Meghalaya cadre of IAS officers and presently serving as Governor of Manipur, is well-acquainted with the history, culture, and challenges of the North Eastern region. His familiarity with the region reflects the recognition of the Centre towards the special needs and aspirations of the North East.”
The party further underlined that, “As a party born in and rooted to the North East, NPP has always emphasized the importance of experienced and regionally sensitive leadership for addressing the concerns of the people. In this regard, NPP Nagaland is confident that Shri Bhalla’s tenure will strengthen governance and bring balanced attention to the State.”
Extending its wishes, the NPP said, “The NPP Nagaland State Unit extends its best wishes to Shri Bhalla and assures its constructive cooperation in the larger interest of peace, development, and empowerment of the people of Nagaland.”
