•-Apropos to the letter purportedly written by a certain Aletovi Naga captioned “An appeal to the NPSC Secretary “ carried in the Morung Express of 11th October, 201 issue wherein clarification of NPSC is sought in respect of the Post of Medical Officer under Home Department, Govt. of Nagaland. In this connection, the Nagaland Public Service Commission is to state as follows:
1. As far as the post of Medical Officer under Home Department is concerned, the Commission has received requisition for one post of Medical Officer vide Letter No. POL-1/ESTT/100/2001 Dt. 5/5/2011 which was advertised by the Commission vide No. NPSC./ADVT-1/04 Dt. 13/9/2011. Apart from this, the Commission neither received requisition for two posts of Medical Officer nor is aware that the concerned department has placed requisition for two vacant posts of Medical Officer to the Commission as alleged in the above quoted letter.
2. While freedom of speech and expression is an inherent of every citizen in a democratic country, the freedom does not mean that the author can hurl wild, unfounded and baseless allegations against anybody, be it government organizations or otherwise. In this context, the Commission solicit Mr. Aletovi Naga to substantiate his allegation that the Home Department has requisitioned two vacant posts of Medical Officer whereas the Commission has advertised only one post.
3. The Commission is aware that there are many disgruntled candidates/persons out of discredit the Commission with all kinds of wild and baseless allegations and thereby to spoil the mind of dedicated youths who are sincerely preparing for various examination conducted by the Commission. The Commission through this letter once again APPEAL to the general public and more particularly the intending candidates aspiring to be future bureaucrats and technocrats of the state not to be carried away with wild and baseless allegations. Any clarification in respect of advertisement or examination, the same may be clarified from the Commission’s office or through the Commission’s web site www.npsc.co.in.
4. It is also the wish of the Commission that the media be more responsible and adhere to journalistic ethics while publishing letters which may have further ramifications upon the society. While the Commission is aware of its limitations, it always welcome constructive suggestions as well as criticism. Therefore, the Commission desires that before publication of any allegation against it, facts may be confirmed from the Commission as well as the identity and address of the author be retained in the larger interest of all concerned.
