Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh said that NRC will be implemented in Manipur as and when the Central Government gives approval for its implementation. However, the base year is yet to be decided.
The Chief Minister said this on the second day of the ongoing ninth session of the eleventh Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Singh said that altogether 3,669 suspected illegal migrants were prevented from entering the State of Manipur from the year 2017 till December 15, 2019. "Some of the steps taken up by the Police department to trace and deport suspected illegal migrants are checking/verifying documents of every traveller/tourists/passengers entering into the State," he also said.
As a result, 9 persons along with 1 minor were arrested and booked in connection with 5(five) different cases, he added.
Singh then informed the house that there is constant flow of finance in the State and there is no question of financial collapse. "Government will bring out financial white papers for the previous five financial year," he said. Meanwhile, Manipur Education minister Th. Radheshyam said that the government will be able to strictly implement the Food Safety and Standard Act once the Food Safety and Standard regulations were made acceptable.
