Kohima, October 25 (DIPR): The Department of New & Renewable Energy will be introducing solar bikes in Nagaland very shortly with an objective to create awareness to the public about the use of solar energy and to motivate the general public to save power. Director NRE, T.S. Angami speaking to DIPR journalist informed that the 3 bikes powered by solar to be introduced very soon will be utilised for Treasury, Secretariat and other local duties by NRE staff. He said that the bike will be fully charged from NRE office at night where a single charge will enable the rider to reach upto 100 km distance at zero cost. It may be noted that the whole establishment of NRE office is run by 10 kw solar including the fan, printer, computer etc.
