NSCN (IM) calls for 12-hr total closure of shops, business establishments on Aug 3

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): As a mark of protest against the Government of India (GoI) for its silence on the Framework Agreement even after 6 years, the NSCN (IM) has called for a 12-hour “total closure of shops and business establishments in Nagalim” from 12:00 am to 12:00 noon on August 3.

The Framework Agreement (FA) which was signed on August 3, 2015 between the GoI and the NSCN (IM) is yet to see the light of fulfillment as committed by the GoI, the NSCN (IM) stated in a press release issued by its MIP on Sunday.
Six years down the line, there is no positive response yet from the GoI, it said, adding that, “The Nagas cannot be taken for a ride in this manner.”

While appreciating the GoI for recognizing the historical and political rights of the Nagas by signing the FA, the NSCN (IM) asserted that the matter should not end there. “What had been committed should be taken to a logical conclusion,” it said.

Calling for a total closure of all shops and business establishments in the State on August 3, the NSCN (IM) appealed to the Naga people, public and business groups to show solidarity to the Framework Agreement and sought cooperation for “the success of the shut down.”

It also urged the NSCN Regional authorities and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to extend their cooperation on the same.
