KOHIMA, June 4 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN Chakhesang Region has issued a public directive declaring a policy of "zero tolerance" towards illegal activities involving prohibited substances and intoxicants within its jurisdiction.
In a notice issued by Neisalie Krome, Kilonser and Caretaker Central Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Chakhesang Region, the regional authority stated that any individual found involved in the sale, distribution, transportation, possession, trafficking, peddling, or any form of dealing in banned substances would face strict action under the laws of the Government.
The directive stated that those found dealing in "banned substances, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, illicit liquor, ganja, sunflower drugs, and other intoxicating or prohibited materials" would be dealt with "firmly and strictly in accordance with the Azha and laws of the Government."
It further stated that "no person shall be exempted from legal action irrespective of status or position."
It also raised concerns over reports that certain individuals were coordinating with the Assam Rifles to organise, sponsor, facilitate, or provide excursion and exposure trips for students within the jurisdiction of the Chakhesang Region. According to the notice, such activities are "not authorized, recognized, or entertained" by the regional authority.
