Dimapur, August 15 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Friday issued a clarification regarding the Independence Day celebrations held in Phungyar, stating that certain segments of the programme were “inappropriate” for the formal occasion and “did not align with the values and the decorum expected.”
In a statement issued by the MIP, NSCN (IM), it clarified that the “inclusion and presentation” during celebrations in Phungyar was “neither reviewed nor approved by the higher authority in charge.”
It said the segment in question was arranged independently by the programme organisers and performers without the knowledge of the event’s presiding authority.
“We regret any discomfort or misunderstanding caused to our guests, dignitaries and the public,” the NSCN (IM) stated, adding that measures are being taken to ensure “future programmes are reviewed in advance and strictly adhere to the formal and respectful standards expected on such occasions.”
“We appreciate the understanding of all attendees and stakeholders as we address this matter,” it added.
