Kohima, October 7 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today called on the Naga people and its “comrades in arms” to unite as “one family, one people, and one nation,” while reiterating its call for peace and reconciliation among Nagas.
In a “Clarion Call” issued on October 7, the NSCN (IM) stated that the Naga national struggle was for the “sovereignty of Nagalim” and that it continues to uphold Naga national principles with the support and cooperation of the Naga people.
It further maintained that Nagas are one people and belong to one another, describing this as the “destined reality” and asserting, “There is neither Eastern Nagalim nor Western Nagalim; there is only Nagalim.”
However, it blamed “adversarial forces” for invading and arbitrarily “partitioning the ancestral Naga territories between themselves in 1953 under their respective unions—India and Myanmar.”
In this connection, the NSCN (IM) contended that unity and reconciliation among Nagas were essential for the future and that it would continue pursuing these objectives.
It further conveyed its resolute commitment that the “Nagas must unite for our common cause against inimical forces and free Nagalim from political and military bondage.”
For this, peace and reconciliation among the Nagas are essential, it said, adding that it would continue to pursue this mission.
“Any forces among the Nagas that oppose unity, reconciliation and a political solution based on historical and political rights are nothing but the mouthpiece and creation of our common enemy. Such noises will wither away, and their true nature will be revealed in the course of time,” it added.
The NSCN (IM) also maintained that Nagas should learn from past mistakes rather than remain “prisoners” of history, and called for collective action towards what it termed a “glorious tomorrow” as one people.
Reiterating that it would seek peace but not through “capitulation,” the NSCN (IM) called on all Naga people and its cadres, irrespective of “imaginary boundaries,” to come together.
