NSCN-K (Nikki Group) flays Jalukie incident

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Nikki Group) today condemned the alleged abduction of one of its senior member “in front of his wife and other family members by members of the NSCN (IM)” in Jalukie area on April 12.

While he was released after reported intervention of senior officials of the NSCN (IM) and members of civil society organisations, he was “mercilessly beaten and warned not to set his foot again in Jalukie area,” claimed a press release issued by MIP, NSCN-K (Nikki Group).

A statement published in local dailies stated that he was released unharmed but “injuries caused to his body stands witness,” it said.

The NSCN-K (Nikki Group) further said that it was “utterly astounded by the incident” and said that it was not expected from the members of the NSCN (IM), a “well established and matured organization to commit such an act of confrontation and harassing our own Naga brothers when the entire Naga society is yearning for peace and for unified Nagas.”

While appreciating the intervention of the concerned senior officials of the NSCN (IM) and the NGOs for early release of its senior member, the NSCN-K (Nikki Group) urged the former “not to allow its good image be tarnished by the misdeeds of its irresponsible members.”

It further affirmed its firm commitment “to the wishes and aspirations of the Naga people for peace and unity” and said that it would be only be a distant “dream as long as there is conflict among our own people.”
