NSCN (K) releases rival cadre, condemns killing

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): The NSCN (Khaplang) as a “gesture of goodwill and respecting the people’s desire for maintaining peace among the warring Naga political groups released one cadre of the rival Khole-Kitovi group” who was arrested by its cadres at Mon in presence of Konyak Union (KU), Longkei village council (LVC) and Longkei Union Mon town (LUMT).  

According to a press note issued by the MIP Secretary, the apprehended cadre identified as Photing Konyak of Longkei village a Raja Peyu of Ngaptang and Monsheng ranges of the GPRN/NSCN was caught on 23rd October by the NSCN cadres from Mon town. However, on request from K.U. LVC and LUMT the NSCN authorities released the cadre in presence of the above mentioned NGOs on 24th October 12 from Mon town, stated the MIP. 

However, the press note stated that “reciprocating the NSCNs good gesture, the U group chase and shot death one NSCN civilian worker identified as Lanu Wabang of Changtongya village at about 7:00pm late last night from Kohima town”. 

Quoting eyewitnesses the MIP note stated that the GPRN/NSCN cadres chased the unarmed victim and shot 4/5 rounds at about 7:00 pm just below the Red cross complex and on receiving information Police rushed and found the victim lying on the corner of roadside bleeding who was immediately taken to Hospital but could not save him. Later, the death body was reportedly claimed by the relatives and Ao community of Para Medical colony as the decease resides in the colony, Police said.

“For the record, the NSCN as a matured peoples based organization is toying the call made by various NGOs including the AYO for maintaining peace and tranquility especially in the state Capital Kohima town however, it should not be taken as a weaknesses for the NSCN wants the people to judge for themselves as to who are working in the interests of the people and who are working for their selfish interested ends?” the MIP note stated. 

The NSCN (K) reminded the people that such “intentional incident of killing NSCN cadres continues while the NSCN responded positively to the call of the people but the NSCN cannot tolerate any more as the NSCNs silence is taken for granted hence, the NSCN will be compelled to initiate stringent defensive counter measures for which the NSCN will not be held responsible by the people as the NSCN has tolerated enough on the pleas of the people for maintaining peace among the Naga political groups while its cadres continues fall victims of enemy bullets”.
