NSCN-K (Yung Aung) and ULFA-I announce I-Day ‘boycott’

Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Yung Aung) and the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-Independent) have jointly called for a boycott of the upcoming Independence Day on August 15, terming it an “imposed” celebration on what they referred as the WESEA (Western South East Asia) region.

In a joint statement received here, the two groups claimed that the day “meant nothing to WESEA and our people did not become free from anything on this day.”

In this connection, the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) and ULFA-I called upon the people of the “so-called States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland” to reject the imposed celebration by remaining indoors on August 15.

They further expressed their resolve to stand firm for what was described as the “collective resilience against the on-going oppression.”
