NSCN Khaplang decries AR arrest

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): The NSCN (Khaplang) decries what it calls the “excessive activities” of the security forces against the group “for the couple of months causing inconvenience and feeling of insecurity although the cease-fire exists between the NSCN and GOI.”

There are ‘so many instances’ of the Assam Rifles’ “excessiveness towards NSCN” which have been “highlighted to the CFSB and also made publicity on the local papers,” a note from the ‘MPI’ of the group said today.

The organization said that its “defense kilonser,” one Kewungkhum, ‘in Kuthur road under Tuensang district’ was arrested by the 1st Assam Rifles. The arrest shows “the execrable activities of Security Forces towards NSCN officials,” the note said. “The Assam Rifle also tried to destroy the unity among the NSCN with false statements accusing Y Wangtin Naga, kilonser NSCN of informing them (Assam Rifles) that the arrest kilonser was not an active member of NSCN nor he is entitled of cease-fire ID card.”

The NSCN has asked the CFSB and IGAR Nagaland to “discipline the concerned officer (Assam Rifles) for offending the good office of the convener CFSB. The NSCN have submitted a complete bio-data of some important functionaries for the issuing of ID card but CFSB delayed for almost 7 months.” The CFSB is appealed to complete the ID cards, submitted, at an earliest date.
