DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 24 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN Khaplang has questioned the “real intentions of the Khehoi group and their so-called sincerity towards working for peace among all the various sections of the Naga nation. “The very day the NSCN/GPRN declared its commitment to participate in the FNR meeting following appeals from the latter and while we were in the process of bringing our cadres inside Athibung designated camp, our cadres were waylaid and ambushed by Khehoi cadres just outside Athibung designated camp, during which a Lieutenant from Zeliangrong region was killed”, stated a press note from the MIP.
The press note informed that the move to shift its cadres to the designated camp was done following directions from the higher-ups.
The NSCN Khaplang termed it as “surprising” that such an incident took place when we all are talking of peace and we have also responded to the call for peace in the land. Incidentally, the press note informed that the group had even announced cessation of any offensive action in the larger interest of peace among Naga brothers.
The NSCN/GPRN Khaplang made it clear that it did not take retaliatory measures as they did not want to create situation that is sure to result in bloodshed and violence among brothers. “However, it should be recorded that we are also heeding the call of peace as has been demanded by all sections of Naga society. It is high time Nagas know what the real intentions of Khole-Kitovi is and to clarify their real intentions and whether they are really sincere in bringing about peace among Naga brothers”, stated the press note.
It stated that the Nagas, the various NGOs, particularly the FNR, should also keep this on record. The NSCN/GPRN, once again, reiterated its commitment towards working for real peace among Naga brothers for which it heeded to the FNR appeal. “However, if such provocation continues, it is inevitable that real peace and bloodshed will continue”.
