NSCN Khaplang rejects partition ideology

DIMAPUR, APRIL 24 (MExN): The NSCN Khaplang has stated that “Kholi-Kitovi espousal of Eastern and Western Nagaland is yet another ideology of further partitioning the Nagas rather than dismantling the arbitrarily imposed artificial boundaries by Myanmar and India upon the Naga people and her country”.

According to a press note issued by Lt.Gen.Niki Sumi, Military Supervisor, Nagaland, People’s Army of Nagaland, NSCN/GPRN Khaplang, it was pointed out that since the “forceful partition of Naga territory into Myanmar and India in the year 1953, by the then Prime Minister of India Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru and Burmese Prime Minister U.Nu, without the consent or consultation of the Naga people, the “Nagas, regardless of the imaginary political barrier imposed, have been fighting together side by side, through thick and thin, been enduring untold miseries, turmoil and immeasurable sacrifices of precious lives all together”.

The press note mentioned that despite “persistent efforts of the enemies to undo the blood bond of the Nagas living across India and Myanmar, the history and political realities of the Nagas could never be subdued”. “However, to the embarrassment of our pioneers and discredit of our national legacies, the fickle minded Kholi-Kitovi band of traitors has now become the vocal mouth piece of India to accentuate the same partition”.

On the issue of NSCN/GPRN Khaplang’s peace and political process with Myanmar, it was stated that “any politically sane Naga would welcome it as positive progress”. “Since the issue is between India, Nagaland and Myanmar, it is but only logical to initiate the processes with the contending entities”, it stated.

“The NSCN/GPRN under SS.Khaplang’s leadership is opportune enough to have reached the international political status of having been able to engage both India and Myanmar so as to begin a new era of pan-Naga political struggle irrespective of arbitrary territorial demarcation. The NSCN shall therefore steadfastly pursue the cherished goal of the Nagas without any biasness, preferences or territorial limitations”.

It stated that “Kholi-Kitovi has chosen their path(Nagas of Nagaland) and the NSCN would neither interfere nor question their choices since it has nothing to do with NSCN pursuits of Naga political goal”.
