NSCN/GPRN (Akato) ‘amicably’ splits

Morung Express News
Dimapur | December 7

In a reported ‘amicable’ parting of ways, the President and Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) of the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) have “officially split.” The latest development in the Naga national political spectrum was however acknowledged by neither party.

The information was contained in a ‘Declaration’ purported to have been issued by the N Kitovi Zhimomi-led Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (W/C NNPGs) dated December 7, 2025, acknowledging the development based on a “proposal brought forth by” NSCN/GPRN (Akato) President Akato Chophy, and its Ato Kilonser K Michael “to amicably part ways.”

Following this separation, the W/C NNPGs recognised the NSCN/GPRN led by K Michael as the tenth independent entity under its fold.

Despite the split, the ‘Declaration’ stated that both Akato Chophi and KMichael must continue to coordinate and adhere to W/C NNPGs principles for an early Indo-Naga political settlement.
