NSCN/GPRN reacts to CS

Dimapur, January 20 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Isak/Muivah) today reacted to the statement of the Chief Secretary of Nagaland Lalthara requesting the Assam Riffles to withdraw from Urra village’s areas.

In a statement released through the MIP, it said “The statement is ridiculous in the sense that the state government requests the Assam Rifles to withdraw from the Urra area mean that the Nagaland state government is under the control of the Assam Riffles. The phrase ‘since the law and order situation in the area has normalized now’ is irresponsible and questionable.”

“The NSCN wants to know what is the law and order problem in the Urra area. Are there any gun fighting or killings in the area? Are there any violent protests or strikes in the area? For what the state chief secretary meant law and order situation in Urra area? It has only a gross violation of ceasefire ground rules by the Assam Riffles and provocations of the peaceful atmosphere by the government of India,” the MIP said.
