The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) congratulates the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) on its fruitful and meaningful conclusion of its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations under the theme: One New Humanity in Christ. The NSCW further commends the NBCC for the Resolutions passed during the said event, which reflects its maturity as a seasoned body of Christ that is genuinely concerned for the wellbeing and future of the people.
The NSCW would like to express its appreciation in particular, for the fourth resolution on Gender Equality for which the NBCC has stated that it resolves to “UPHOLD that “…God created mankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1: 27). And further, that it urges “the local Baptist Churches and Associations/ Councils to avail the Christian services of both men and women as equal in the ministry of the Church.” (NBCC Platinum Jubilee Resolutions, passed by the NBCC Executive held on April 18, 2012 at the NBCC Headquarters )
The NSCW believes that the NBCC has taken the lead in following the footsteps of our Saviour, with Whom there is no respect (distinction) of persons , and has set the example of living in this new humanity in Christ, as one in Him.
At this crucial point in time in our people’s history, we are being confronted with numerous forces of change that are vying for our attention. And this resolution of the NBCC will go a long way in bringing about holistic change in our society as women and men walk together, as equal partners in Christ, leaving aside all barriers that have over the years incapacitated the society’s full potential.
