NSCW grieves; appeal to State govts

Kohima, August 12 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) grieves with the families of late A Tiakala and Benthang Phom, who were reportedly murdered by unknown assailants on August 8 along the Mariani-Titabor road in Assam.  “It pains everyone at home to think of how these two sisters met their deaths, and words fail us at this difficult hour. It is our prayer that God grant succor to their families,” a NSCW press release received here said.

“However, the living cannot just leave the matter to end there. Assam and Nagaland are neighbors and will always be. We are once again reminded that Woman are not safe anywhere in the world, but all should strive to make our society a safer place to live in,” said Sano Vamuzo, Nagaland State Commission for Women in a release received here.

Meanwhile, the Commission appreciated the Mokokchung Police for timely and appropriate intervention.  The commission appealed to both the governments of Assam and Nagaland to go all out to capture the culprits and to check the rising menace of anti-social elements operating in the border areas, to prevent future recurrences.
