NSDMA issues weather advisory

Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather update for the period from September 30 to October 3. According to the advisory, localized thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rain are expected across most parts of the state until October 3.

On September 30, the districts of Kohima, Kiphire, Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Niuland and Tuensang are forecast to receive heavy rain accompanied by localized thunderstorms and lightning. 

The NSDMA has urged the public to take necessary precautions to avoid lightning strikes and high winds which may disrupt communication and connectivity.

It cautioned that due to high precipitation in the hill sector, the lowland and foothill districts including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit and Tuli are vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods.
