NSF asks schools to provide physical notes to students

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the management and teaching faculty of schools in the Naga homeland to ensure that physical notes and not soft copies are provided to the students.

A press release from the NSF stated that “this is to mitigate the ill-effects of the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices on the students.” It expressed concern that despite the commencement of normal physical classes, some schools are still resorting to providing notes to the students in soft copy format “which has become one primary reason for the students to take the excuse of spending more time on their mobile phones or other electronic devices.”

“This is undesirable for the overall growth of the students. It should be noted that the shift to online mode of dissemination of education was only necessitated by the nationwide-lockdown to combat the spread of the deadly Coronavirus,” the NSF said.

Meanwhile, the NSF also appealed to the authorities concerned to take the right steps forward for releasing the pending salaries of the teachers without further delay.

It expressed concern that salaries of certain sections of the teaching community have not been released for a prolonged period of time. This, the federation believed, will be detrimental to the teaching-learning process as the teachers will be compelled to find alternatives means of livelihood.

“The focus on teaching by these aggrieved teachers will be greatly hampered. This is in the interest of the students and teaching community,” it added.
