Kohima, June 11 (MExN): Reiterating its earlier stance in regard to taxation on educational institutes, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today said that it has joined hands with Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) to fight for the common cause of the Naga society and the students in particular and send out a clear standing message that it will not put up with any organizations or factions taxing the educational institutes. NSF president Kelhouneizo Yhome speaking to media persons today along with the executives of ENSF stated that the NSF and ENSF had a joint meeting on June 9 and had come to an agreement that it will not tolerate any kind of tax imposition in any form on any educational institutions. In this regard, the NSF and ENSF informed that they will be meeting with different factions at Dimapur, Tuensang, Mon & Kohima Districts starting from June 18 to appeal and discuss the issue relating to taxations on educational institutions.
The students’ organizations also said that official intimation will be send out to all the factions regarding the proposed visit and also expressed hope that all the factions will agree to their appeal. The student bodies also called upon the general public to extend their cooperation so that the fight for this cause can be taken care of. It may be recalled that the Naga Students’ Federation had earlier announced its stand to urge national workers to abstain from imposing any form of taxes on educational institutions in all the Naga inhabited areas, be it private or governmental, which are imparting education, stating that it is the only human resources department that Nagas can rely upon.
