
Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Election Commission of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today announced that the General Election for its 2025–2027 Executive Council and Assembly Executives will be held on August 29, 2025, in Tseminyu Town.
According to an official notification, the polling will commence at 2:00 PM at the Conference Hall in Tseminyu, with the counting of votes and declaration of results to be completed on the same day. The election will be conducted strictly for the posts officially notified for the upcoming tenure.
The Commission has immediately enforced a stringent Model Code of Conduct (MCC), binding for all intending candidates and federating units, to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
Key provisions of the code prohibit candidates from being registered members of any political party and strictly ban campaigning or canvassing by political parties.
The MCC further prohibits the use of derogatory or defamatory language against other candidates and the circulation of unverified or concocted information. The use of loudspeakers is banned. The use of social media platforms for maligning, criticising, exposing private affairs or sharing objectionable images/videos of other candidates is also strictly prohibited.
Other restrictions include a ban on election processions, public meetings during the Conference, and any campaign activities during conference hours. The code explicitly forbids soliciting votes through inducements like alcohol, intoxicants, or any other immoral inducement will constitute a serious offence.
Candidates will be held responsible for ensuring their supporters do not disrupt the meetings or campaigns of other contestants.
The notification stated that any violation of these provisions will invite disciplinary action and penal measures as deemed appropriate by the Election Commission. The schedule for the issuance of nomination forms will be notified separately.
