The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) under the aegis of North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) will be observing North East Black Day against the imposition of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on December 11 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima at 12 noon.

NSF General Secretary Kenilo Kent will chair the programme while NESO secretary general Mutsikhoyo Yhobu will deliver keynote address.

NSF President Mteisuding and AAPSU vice president protocol Nabam Gandhi will deliver short speech. Senchumo NSN Lotha, former president NSF and former secretary general NESO will give a concluding remark.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the NESO reminded on December 11, 2019, despite the relentless opposition of the indigenous peoples against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019, the Government of India did not pay heed and it finally, through the Rajya Sabha, passed the "draconian law."

Accordingly, it stated that is December 11 remembered as a Black Day across the region with  black flags and banners displayed at important locations across all seven states as part of the observance.

“NESO has declared that December 11 will always be remembered as a Black Day for the whole of the North East. So, in continuation of this observation of this Black Day, NESO has decided that there will be a display of black flags and black banners in all the important places of all the seven states today,” it said.

The organisation appealed to the people of the North East to support the observation and continue fighting for their rights.
