NSF notes threat to state officials

Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): Reacting to the threats made against senior state officials particularly Additional Chief Secretary Banuo Z Jamir by a functionary of the NSCN (K), the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has cautioned that it would not tolerate such deviations. The NSF issued a statement today in response to the reported threats issued against some senior state officials over the issue of the ongoing investigations in the School Education department.

The NSF has said that the threats would not be tolerated and the students would not hesitate to “register its displeasure in a manner deem fit”. The federation expressed regrets that a certain vested individual with vested interests in the name of “national workers” is attempting to sabotage the investigations.

‘The Naga Students’ Federation fully believes that education is the backbone of the society and the best agency for social transformation. Those in the Education department have more responsibility to shoulder and they must leave no stones unturned to eradicate obstacles hampering the development of Education…” the NSF message stated

The federation expressed regret “that certain vested individual in the name of national workers is resorting to every means to sabotage the ongoing investigation over the bogus teacher employment under the School Education department and threatening the Additional Chief Secretary Banuo Z Jamir.” The NSF has denounced and condemned “such designs and practices” perpetrated on the people solely for vested interest. It would not be tolerated and the students’ organization shall not hesitate to “register its displeasure in a manner deem fit,” the NSF cautioned.

The federation also, while appreciating the efforts of the Special Investigation Team, urged the state government and SIT to bring about the investigation to its logical conclusion .In spite of various investigations into anomalies in various government departments, the NSF reminded, the state is still thriving in corruption. This is due to the absence of corrective measures and punitive action against offenders, the NSF reminded, while the real culprits go scot-free within the department. The federation feels it necessary that the government must investigate the other departments as well applying the same yardstick to cleanse them of corruption.
