Dimapur May 24(MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) while strongly decrying the unabated and vengeful factional feuds and terming it as an “absolute act of insanity, which is nothing but suicidal to our cause” has questioned the Naga leaders whether infighting would bring the Naga people sovereignty for which enough years, blood and sweat has been shed.
“The Federation questions the Naga National leaders, whether infighting will bring us sovereignty or independence for which enough years, sweat and blood have been shed? Many vibrant Naga warriors have been eliminated on the pretext of cleansing hurdles to our destination/aspiration. But how far do we empathize with the feelings of their surviving kin? Revenge for their murdered kinsman cannot be ruled out. Many of us have near and distant relatives who are in one or the other faction.
We never know when they may be victim of the present act of insanity. God forbid, if they became victim of factional killings, how do we think we’ll react to such situation?” questioned the NSF through V Pushika Aomi, President and WH Maring, Speaker. The NSF strongly forewarned that one day or other, all the Nagas would be dragged into a situation where every brother will take up arms against his brother, killing each other into total annihilation. “The Federation cautions that at this hour when the general Nagas want Reconciliation and National Consensus towards bringing an end to the vexed Naga issue, killing each other will only jeopardize our movement.
Violence begets violence. Unless leaders realize this reality, the larger issue will be sidelined then subsequently brought to natural death” it warned while reminding that “the youths shall not endorse such suicidal killings among Naga brothers. This factional fight should be stopped once and for all if our issue is not to be self-defeated”.
The Federation also, while asking the people to analyze the politics of the Government of India carefully in the context of the Nagas’ national issue “or rather the factional killings”, cautioned that it has direct access with the factions in the name of peace talks whereas the factions themselves do not. “Can instigation, fomenting, passing of wrong information, etc. be totally ruled out? Government of India is playing double standard with the Nagas. All the bitter incidents –past and present are the handiwork of GoI towards dampening the Nagas spirit of resistance –the driving force that keeps alive our movement” it maintained and asked the government of India to stop playing “Divide and Rule” tactics.
