NSF reiterates demand for implementation of NSSB

Kohima, July 21 (MExN): The Naga Students Federation (NSF) on Wednesday reiterated its February 22, 2020 resolution for a blanket ban on departmental exams for recruitment to various group ‘C’ posts until Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) is implemented in the State.

It also demanded that departmental exams be scrapped once and for all.

A press release from the Federation informed that the demands were part of the resolutions adopted at the emergency meeting on Wednesday.

Subsequent to the office memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms pertaining to ‘partial lifting of appointment’, an emergency presidential council meeting of the NSF was reportedly held at the conference hall of NSF Oking, Naga Club Building, Kohima on July 21.

Questioning the rationale behind the State government going ahead with departmental exams while taking various excuses in its implementation of NSSB, the NSF demanded  that all existing vacancies for ‘Group C’ post (not within the purview of NPSC)  be requisitioned to NSSB and that departmental exams be scrapped once and for all.

The house also demanded that the age relaxation for entry into government service should be in sync with the period of delay in the recruitment due to non-implementation of NSSB and not merely one year.

The Federation also informed that various issues being faced by the aspirants due to the ban on recruitment by the State government were discussed and deliberated in the meeting.

The House reportedly agreed to appeal to the agitated aspirants to fully understand the rationale behind the Federation’s demand for immediate implementation of NSSB which is to curb rampant backdoor appointments which is depriving the hardworking youth from facing proper selection process.

While appealing for cooperation from all the aspirants, the NSF appealed the Government of Nagaland to comply with the Federation’s legitimate demands without any delay.

“Failure to do so, the Federation will be compelled to take up befitting democratic agitation,” it cautioned.
