Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) on Thursday issued a caution, demanding that the ongoing police recruitment drive across Nagaland be conducted with the “highest standards of transparency, fairness and accountability.”
In a statement issued by NSF President, Mteisuding, and General Secretary, Kenilo Kent, the student body emphasised that meritocracy must be “strictly upheld at every stage of selection.” It insisted that only deserving and qualified candidates should be selected “without any form of favouritism, nepotism or undue influence.”
The NSF urged the Department of Home and all concerned agencies to ensure the recruitment process is completed in a “time-bound manner.”
“The Federation will continue to closely observe the process in the interest of justice, fairness and transparency,” the Federation stated, adding that it hopes the State Government will “set a benchmark through this recruitment drive by upholding integrity and efficiency, thereby inspiring confidence among the people of the state.”
Acknowledging the importance of the drive, the NSF stated that a “strong, professional and well-equipped police force is vital for ensuring public confidence in the institutions of governance.” It described the present recruitment as a “significant step towards strengthening the policing system in the State.”
The Federation also extended its appreciation to the Department of Home and the Government of Nagaland for “initiating and carrying forward the ongoing Police Recruitment drive.” It acknowledged the government's efforts in “addressing long-standing vacancies in the police force and for creating employment opportunities for deserving Naga youth.”
