NSF, where are you headed to?

Having read the papers presented by the NSF at the General Secretaries meeting and the media reports, I find it rather strange that it does not make any reference to the sullied officials of the NPSC. I find even more unreasonable that the issue presented and reported are centred on the COE, whose integrity and honesty are well understood and appreciated.

As far as I am concerned, he is the whistle blower or irrefutably the person who portrayed the entire scene behind the NPSC that led to the charge sheeting of some bureaucrats including the Deputy Secretary of the NPSC. What we must be aware is the difference between what is black and what is white. As the former General Secretary of Kohima college Kohima, we sacrificed our classes to attend NSF’s picketing last year to fight against corruption and nothing more.

We strongly stand for the cleansing of corruption and will continue to stand for such endeavours. However, that cannot be done at the cost of implicating an honest official. And as things develop today, the COE is made the target as in the ‘sequence of events in the NPSC scam’ presented by the NSF.  Now, I fail to comprehend the reason behind inviting us, the students, for picketing. We acknowledge the integrity of the COE and he rightly deserves the same from the NSF. As an official, he acted the way he ought to act.

We talk about self-determination and sovereignty and even more by the NSF. Hence, to bring in the question of CBI and resorting to agitate is something considerably illogical. All the answers scripts of the past 20 years are said to be burnt to ashes already as per the commission’s rule and not according to his whims as alleged. How will it be possible to investigate by the CBI or for that matter even by the CIA?

While alleging the COE of typing the questions by an Alder College typist, are we aware that it’s his constitutional right  to entrust any person whom he can trust? Where are the names of the officials who were involved in this racket of bribery and corruptions?  Where are the convicted people whose way of doing things we are supposed to fight and agitate against? Until now, NSF has made no mention of those people. The attention is completely focused on the COE. The intended target here is missing in the intended agitation. I don’t understand where NSF is headed and silent on the convicted officials!

Beneath the glorious words of accountability, transparency and justice, ulterior motive, if any, can never be tolerated. Students in Kohima are not fools and hence, won’t stand for a lie.
