Kohima, October 6 (MExN): Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) three-day training on ‘functions of the Community Managed Training Centres (CMTCs)’ for the Mission team of 11 Resource Blocks under 11 districts concluded at DUDA Guest House, Kohima.

In his keynote address, M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM, highlighted that Model Cluster Level Federations (MCLF) is implemented across the country to create ‘Proof of concept on promotion of member owned, member managed, member controlled and financially sustainable SHG Federations.’ “These are expected to be resource institutions and demonstration sites for other CLFs in the State to emulate. Recognizing the need for communitization of capacity building efforts at the community level, the Mission has established one CMTC per District managed by one of the Model CLFs in the District, so that it would cater to the capacity building needs of all the Self-Help Groups in the district,” Lotha added.

Moving on, he stressed on the multi-dimensional context of rural poverty where the poor faces exclusion which intersect in complex ways. He challenged the Mission team to nurture and strengthen the MCLF in developing the 11 CMTC, not only as a centre of learning owned, managed and run by the women of SHGs Federations, but also as a business hub and a bridge to partner with departments, local self-governments, public service providers, banks, private sector and other players in order to facilitate delivery of social and economic services to the rural poor.

The three-day intensive training focused on CMTC management, preparing Business Development Plan and developing Training Calendar for the CMTC. The training was jointly facilitated by Imonenla Imkong Phom, State Program Manager, NSRLM and Girish Pradhan, National Resource Person, NIRD, MoRD.
