KOHIMA, APRIL 14 (MExN): The NSS of Baptist College, Kohima with the objectives to inculcate life skills, hands-on experience on rural way of life and to serve the community organised a special camp at its adopted village, Chedema Model Village under Kohima district from April 11 -14. Three NSS Programme Officers along with forty-seven NSS volunteers participated in the 4-day camp. In the special camp, the NSS volunteers carried out various activities for the welfare of the village community by cleaning the Village Council Hall , Government Primary School , Angawadi, and premises of the village. 

The volunteers also helped in carrying and chopping the firewood for the elderly in the village. To beautify and save the environment, the NSS of the college donated various fruits and ornamental tree saplings and carried out a plantation drive in and around the village. An initiative to start an orange orchard in the village was taken up in the plantation drive. As a gesture of gratitude, humble tokens of appreciation were handed to the Village Council, the Chedema CRC, the students in the Government Primary School and the elderly men and women in the village. As a part of recreational activities, a walk in the nature, morning exercise and evening program were organised. The camp was a success with the proactive participation and coordination of the NSS volunteers and the NSS Programme Officers.
