NSUB hosts 57th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night in Bengaluru

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) hosted its 57th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night at the Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) Auditorium in Bengaluru on October 2, bringing together over 2,000 students, dignitaries and well-wishers under the theme “A Legacy to Carry, a Future to Create.”

The annual event welcomed new students and working professionals into the Naga community in Bengaluru while showcasing the cultural diversity and heritage of the Naga people.

In her presidential address, NSUB president Sheyini reflected on the union’s 57-year history and the contribution of generations who had helped build and sustain the organisation. She urged young Nagas to consider what they would leave behind for future generations and to use the opportunities available to them to give back to the community.

Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Losii Dikho attended the programme as chief guest, while Dr Loung Nathan K K, Professor at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, was the guest speaker. Their addresses focused on vision, leadership, service and the role of young people in contributing to society while staying connected to their heritage.

Nagaland artist KL Pamei also performed at the event, with the evening featuring music, cultural performances and other artistic showcases representing the diverse traditions of the Naga community.

The programme also featured the Mr & Ms Fresher NSUB 2026 contest. Shisalong Jamir from the Ao community and Khoziia Kashipri from the Mao community were crowned Mr and Ms Fresher NSUB 2026, respectively. Kashipri was also named Ms Popularity, while Ganguanglung Kamei from the Zeliangrong community was adjudged Mr Popularity.

The event was supported by title sponsors Glamsjo Salon Academy, Sakra World Hospital, Roots & Ferns, Harvest Kitchen, Hornbill Kitchen and Longshim by Indigenous Basket. Associate sponsors included Chumthang Kitchen, Maven Kitchen, Naga Choka and Melita Luxury Skincare.

According to NSUB, the event served as a platform to welcome young students into the Naga community in Bengaluru while celebrating identity, culture, fellowship and the aspirations of a new generation.
