Dimapur, April 17 (MExN): In recent past, the Naga Students’ Union Chennai (NSUC) has had harrowing experiences of dealing with human trafficking where the agents have promised good jobs and has brought many innocent Naga youths to the city both male and female. Therefore, in a joint press release issued by NSUC president and general secretary stated that the Union will not tolerate anyone acting as such agents and also informs the families and relatives to be vigilant of such agents in future and not to send their wards without proper verification and consultation from the union. The Union further requests the tribal unions, hohos, churches and community organizations to escalate the information in their respective areas and localities.
Meanwhile, the 33rd parting social of NSUC was organized on March 31, 2012 with Tsupon Ezung, Human Resource Officer of the IOC as the chief guest which was held at Skidmore Hall, Anita Methodist School, Vepery, Chennai. About 200 Nagas’ both student and working people participated in the social event.
In the first session, the highlights of the programme included special presentation from the Tangkhul, Angami and Ao tribes. Speech on behalf of the outgoing students was said by Solomon (Poumai), while a song dedicated to the outgoing students was presented by Abemo. Wopangtoshi, Pastor, NCFC blessed the students with a prayer. The second session was devoted for the general assembly led by Limakum and recorded by Tipreila. In this session the union official reports were presented followed by an election of the new team of office bearers for the tenure 2012-13. Following are the office bearers elected; Vahrii-President, Chenithung D. Yanthan-VP, Tokato K. Yeptho-GS, Avibi Thonger-AGS, Suneplila Tzudir-Finance Secretary and Maongnungsang Jamir (Advisor cum Treasurer).
