NTAC says ‘focus on pursuing to achieve desire of people’

Kohima, February 21 (MExN): Following the resignation of the Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang on February 19, the Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) announced the termination of the ongoing bandh on February 20.  

The almost two weeks bandh imposed across the entire State had paralyzed the government as well as disrupted normalcy for the public too. “The decision to cease the ongoing bandh all over Nagaland forthwith ending, Monday February 20, 2017 and focus on pursuing to achieve the desire of the people and re-establish a harmonious life in the Naga society endowed with the expectation that the new government will usher in, the willingness of meeting the wishes of the people as well as listening to their voices,” stated the NTAC.  

On February 19, the NTAC met PB Acharya, Governor of Nagaland, and had reminded of the needed action on the prevailing volatile crisis. Following which, the next day, the NTAC, Kohima was given an audience at 10:00 am Monday February 20, 2017 by the Governor who announced the action formally taken upon the resignation tendered by TR Zeliang along with his Council of Ministers of Nagaland at 8:00pm Sunday February 19. The Governor had further apprised that the formation of government under a new leadership is immediately being worked upon.

Acknowledging the support of the public, individuals and organizations, Joshua N, representative NTAC Kohima stated, “It is an eye opener for politicians as well as bureaucracy. Everyone should come back to their senses and move forward to a progressive society. The goal that was laid has been achieved.”
