NU exam anomalies raise more concern

Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): The Private College Teachers Forum Kohima (PCTFK) has raised serious concern with regard to various anomalies being faced by the teachers while trying to conduct smooth, free and fair undergraduate examinations of various courses under Nagaland University,
PCTFK, President, C. Sivinir Terhujah and General Secretary, Gopal Chetri in a joint press statement, appreciated the authorities of Nagaland University for introduction of the ‘Online delivery of question papers’ for the ongoing examinations. Nonetheless, the Forum considering various aspects is disheartened to point the continued errors committed by the University authority and those engaged in printing the question papers for the exams. “We are saddened that at the first place the new system in various examination centers has been implemented without conducting any proper trial for the benefit of the centers where exams are to be conducted beside non availability of proper facilities until the last moment,” the Forum stated.
The Forum has alleged that despite the non availability of facilities and conduction of proper training about the new system, the NU authorities have been making continued errors in almost all the question papers. “We cite above all the heading pattern of the question papers, which is not at all uniform as the question papers do not even have the University code, which is a must for any University. Secondly, the question paper headings are different with mistakes being committed even in the subjects and paper numbers,” the Forum also added.
While pointing out more anomalies in the systems, the Forum said that in a disappointing state of affairs, the MIL Tenyidie exams for BA-II had to be postponed while the Elective Tenyidie Paper-I question papers were set for only 90 marks instead of 100 marks. Besides, those major problems, the Forum is saddened that the question papers has uncountable clerical errors and are being sent to the examination cente `rs without undergoing proper moderation and proof reading as the question papers contain untold mistake while some of the question papers do not even have the question numbers as well marks.
The Forum considering the anomalies in the already conducted examinations is very much apprehensive about the question papers of the remaining subjects. In this connection, the forum considering the welfare of the career of thousands of students in general and the reputation of our only UGC recognized central university in the State has urged upon the authorities of NU to properly examine the question papers before being send for the conduct of examinations.
