Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): In view of Vector Borne Disease transmission season such as malaria, JE, Dengue, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) wing under Health & Family Welfare Nagaland has intensified its surveillance activities along with vector control measure through application of DDT spray, distribution of insecticide treated mosquito nets, release of larvivorous fishes in water bodies, awareness campaign through advocacy workshops, capacity building through orientation trainings of different levels of Field Staff under the programme in all the districts.
The programme has just completed Zone-wise training – Kohima Zone (4 districts) at Kohima, Dimapur Zone (3 district) at Dimapur and Mokokchung Zone (4 district) at Mokokchung. The epidemiological situation in the state up to August ’11 is shown as follows: Total malaria positive cases=1999; Total death due to malaria=3; Blood serum collected to JE= 40; Total JE positive cases=29 and Total death due to JE=5.
