NVCO observes Vigilance Awareness Week

Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) in line with the Central Vigilance Commission, Government of India’s announcement, observed the Vigilance Awareness Week from October 27 to November 2.

The Organization informed that this year, due to the pandemic situation, it could not organize activities.

However, NVCO President Kezhokhoto Savi, Advocate officially launched the anti-corruption campaign

In his speech, Savi said that the observance of vigilance awareness week is the week in which the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sardar Valladh Bhai Patel falls, since Sardar Patel is a model for honesty, integrity and probity in public life for future generations.

“Cultivating and promoting moral values of integrity in all aspects of our life is essential for building a better society. We must stigmatize the culture of corruption, favoritism and nepotism and actively promote conduct inspired by the ethical value of integrity,” he said.

Pointing to the ‘serious concern’ of corruption in Nagaland, the NVCO President said that “today we face the problem of corruption at various levels.”

He called for rooting out the corrupt practices in elections. Referring to the upcoming bye-emlections scheduled to be held in the State on November 3, Savi urged for a fair election.

“We must not make election as a battle ground rather cast your vote fairly and justly,” he added.
