The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, conducted the 2nd phase of selection trial in preparation for the upcoming 39th National Games 2027 on September 22.
The trial was conducted at Multi-Purpose Hall, Viswema, covering the disciplines of Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Women’s Wrestling.
NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho informed that the selection trial follows the intensive training camp that started on August 20 last, aimed at preparing wrestlers for the National Games to be hosted by Meghalaya, and Nagaland as co-host for wrestling discipline.
The initiative seeks to identify and nurture talented wrestlers who will represent Nagaland at the prestigious event.
Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) President Vezohu Ruho graced the program as the as the Special Guest & encouraged the wrestlers to maintain discipline, tolerance and God fearing in their strive for excellence.
Altogether, 45 wrestlers from Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Chang, Sumi, Pochury, Sangtam and Rengma tribes took part in the trials.
The selection process was assisted by NWA Coopted Technical Secretary, Kikhwesül Thokhwe, Suryansh Sehrawat (Coach) and Thechamo Murry (Assistant Coach).
