KOHIMA, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has postponed the State Level Free Style, Greco Roman Style & Women Wrestling Championship scheduled to be held from October 21-22 till further “Notice.”
The event was postponed compliance with the meeting outcome of the NWA’s Executive Office Bearers (EOB) meeting held on October 13, the association stated in a press release.
The postponement has been necessitated in view of the ‘unfavourable situation’ that has arisen to hold the championship, it added, requesting all its affiliated and provisional units to bear with the inconvenience.
Instead, to reform and revive Free Style, Greco-Roman Style, and Women’s Wrestling, the NWA has directed all its affiliated and provisional units to organise training and coaching camps for the respective categories within their jurisdictions by November 15.
The units have also been instructed to submit official reports along with photographs to the NWA office accordingly.
The training and coaching camps are required for the selection of wrestlers to participate in the 2025 Senior National Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from December 12 to 14 under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), it added.
The NWA has invited interested wrestlers to contact their respective affiliated or provisional units, or the NWA office, for participation in an upcoming out-of-state coaching camp for Free Style, Greco-Roman Style, and Women’s Wrestling. The deadline for submitting the confirmation list of wrestlers is October 18, 2025, before 12 noon.
