A five member delegation of the Oil India Limited (OIL) led by JPP Das, Executive Director (Frontier Basin) from Oil India Ltd, the second premier PSU from the exploration and production (E&P) Company in the country made a courtesy call on Nagaland Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining Minister, V Kashiho Sangtam on June 17 last.
The officials met the minister at the his office at Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima and briefed him about the company's activities in the North East and also updated him about the Oil Exploration Block that has been awarded to OIL by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) Government of India.
They impressed upon him regarding issuing of Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) to the Company in order to initiate oil exploration activities so that in the process the State Government can reap benefits out of such activities and also conveyed that OIL would be most happy to partner with the State Government in its venture into any oil exploration and production initiative.
Further, it informed that the Minister while appreciating the points expressed by the OIL Team, said the reasons for why oil exploration and production in Nagaland has been stalled for the last thirty years.
Stating the issue being a complex geopolitical issue, he hoped that the pending court case will be resolved very soon.
